Company History

Founded in 1978 by Peter Grassl sr and Julius Bartl sr, Advanced Mold & Tooling has withstood the test of time and varying economic climates by continually pursuing the highest ideals in moldmaking, business strategies and business relationships.  With a long history of serving customers as small as individual inventors to companies as large as Xerox, Eastman Kodak and Abbott Labs., we have proven to be flexible and effective in a wide variety of project sizes and complexities.

The early years were spent developing relationships and a diverse customer network.  In 1981 we were one of the first mold shops in the Rochester area to add 3D CNC machining to our capabilities as well as cutting edge EDM technology.  In 1986 Peter Grassl jr and Julius Bartl jr joined the company after finishing college.  By the late eighties three more 3D machining centers were acquired, as well as a four axis milling machine.

As we grew it became necessary to move to a larger and more modern facility.  In 1992 we relocated to our current address at 769 Trabold Road. Throughout the nineties we made further advances in technology by committing to Unigraphics 3D solids modeling and Mastercam CAM programming in 1994.  A mold tryout area was created in 1998 to facilitate mold testing

By being versatile and nimble we have been able to sustain and grow the company for over 30 years.  Our belief is that by consistently blending new technology with old-fashioned values, we will be able to continue for many years to come.
